Safari in wildest Africa - Michael and Christine Denis-Huot

reviews/safari-huot5

Michel and Christine Denis Huot spend at least six months a year in East Africa. They have produced several books in the past, and the latest, Safari in Wildest Africa, is a fantastic photographic record of the big game of East Africa. There are all the usual, spectacular, big cat kills, but what sets this book apart is some of the more unusual Sights.

A serval catching a snake, the look of terror on a buffalo's face as lions attack, the Grants gazelle at dawn, an impala in mid air six feet above the rest of the herd, and two pink hippo's eyes peeping out from what looks like a mound of mud all stick in the mind.

This is a very large format book, 36 Cms high by 27 wide, the double page spreads are quite spectacular.

There is also some excellent scientific information, such as why gazelles pant, why the Serengeti is so suited to game, and what the percentage success rate is for hunting lions.

Available for £20-25 plus PP from internet books shops, though at the time of writing it can be bought for the curious price of £13.44 from The Book Depository.
